Nocturnality in writing

For some reason I can only seem to write productively after midnight. I spend all day wasting time, and then suddenly get an attack of typing in the early hours of the morning.

I think this is because I try to get things right the first time, whereas I should just try to get something down and then revise that however many times it takes. In the middle of the night I am more prone to writing this crap than during the working day, when I am obsessed with detail.

Or at least that's my working assumption. Now, let's see if I can change that.
